CHARACTERに関する名言

2008年に大ヒットした大河ドラマ「篤姫」。その中で松平春嶽のところで対面した勝海舟が小松帯刀にこんな言葉を言ってました。

「上等な人間ていうのは力で人を動かしたりしません。心です。心で動かすもんですよ。そういうもんです。」

これは上等な人間というもののキャラクターに関しての勝海舟の定義ですが、英語でのcharacterにもそんなぐっと来るような定義が為されることがあります。

個人的には英語学習のテクニック以前にこーゆー点を大事にしたいと思ってます。エマーソンの言葉など本当に素敵じゃないですか・・・
